What do you do when someone says or does something you don’t agree with? In recent years, many have used this as an opportunity to “cancel” a person or business–unfriending them on social media, boycotting their business, firing them from their employment, or even virtually wiping them off the face of the earth. As Christians, we have a duty to “cancel” sin in our lives, but we can’t effectively do our part of spreading the gospel to lost souls if we “cancel” all sinners. In Mt. 9:12-13, when the Pharisees questioned why Jesus was dining with sinners, He described himself as the “great physician” because sinners are spiritually sick, and the doctor needed to see them. We can’t have an influence on people if we don’t interact with them at all.
