The Conversion of Lydia

Lydia (Acts 16:6-15) was clearly striving to serve God while away from home, in a foreign country where people were not interested in worshiping God. She made no excuses and refused to let anything prevent her from doing what was right. So why did God need to “open her heart” as Luke records in v. 14? What defect did her heart have? She heard the gospel, her heart was opened, and she gave heed to what Paul spoke. Even though she was serving the Lord, she still needed to change and give heed to the gospel!
