The Conversion of the Ethiopian Eunuch

The story of the “Ethiopian eunuch” in the 8th chapter of Acts is perhaps the most compelling conversion story in the Bible for what it shows AND for what it doesn’t show. This account involves a preacher directed by the Holy Spirit and then selected for inclusion in Acts by the Holy Spirit. It tells us how a person is converted to Christ, what he heard, how he believed, and what he still needed to do. The eunuch’s story also shows that the gospel is for all mankind, that just being “religious” isn’t enough, that God doesn’t appear directly to interested individuals to save them miraculously, the pressing importance of baptism, what form of baptism is approved by the Holy Spirit, and when Philip’s job of converting the eunuch was complete. Read the account from Acts 8, study it, and consider whether your conversion is similar so that you may go on your way rejoicing.
