Today the apostle Thomas is dubbed “Doubting Thomas” based on his remarks in the 20th chapter of John, but is that title really fair to him? John’s gospel shows him as a disciple of Jesus who demonstrated great dedication, a desire to understand the truth, and a need for evidence upon which to base his faith. He didn’t want anything that the other apostles hadn’t already seen or received from Jesus.
